Week 3 - Summer - Kaohsiung
Crazy fast is what comes to mind for this past week. It feels like just yesterday that I was writing about week 2 and now we are done with week 3.
But through that crazy fast time, we have had so many opportunities to be with students and to share with them. Not just share with them, but to really become friends with them. Building friendships is why I wanted to come back. I didn’t want them to think that the only reason I was friends with them was to share the Gospel. The Gospel is so much more than words. It’s a lifestyle of living out who Jesus is. He truly cares about everyone. His disciples were some of His closest friends and He was constantly showing them His love. He cares so much He was willing to die for us. We are so undeserving of this kind of love, yet He still gives it to us because He wants that relationship with us. He is so crazy good. He called us to love one another, and although it may be difficult at some times that is was we are to do. Part of the culture here is to put others first. For example, it’s been raining for the past week straight (I think; I don’t really remember the time frame). It doesn’t rain much here , but they don’t really like the rain. They were willing to walk beside us to the MRT because they didn’t want us to be soaking wet. It’s amazing how they live out some of the aspects of God without even knowing it. They go above and beyond for us. What would happen if we put others first that much - not just physically but spiritually? How would others lives be changed by the Gospel if we lived out loving others like Christ? John 13: 34-35 ~ “I give you a new command: Love one another. Just as I have loved you, you are also to love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”
