How Love Affects Those Around Us
Let’s be real; sometimes I wonder why God would love us so much. But then I remember that He loves us like that because He created us. It’s somewhat crazy to think about how the Lord loves us so much that He sent Jesus to die on a cross for us. By living a perfect life, dying on the cross, and rising from the grave, Jesus defeated death and sin. He did all of that because He loves us. Wow. That kind of love is overwhelming.
I am an overthinker and perfectionist. I tend to overthink my actions then try to make them perfect. It’s not always graceful. I also love to jump in and help and sometimes forget to listen. My over thinking and perfectionism doesn't show the love of Christ. Neither does not listening to someone. But how amazing is it that God takes the time to teach us to love like Him? I don’t do it well. It’s something that I strive to do better at and probably sometimes try to take that type of love into my own hands instead of listening to the needs rather than the easy fixes.
We were called to love everyone, our friends, family, teammates, coworkers, people that get on our nerves, and yes even our enemies. We are supposed to show love to people where they are. It amazes me how just a little bit of love can go a long way when it comes to relationships. With playing sports at school, I have come to love some of my teammates. In my classes where they were once just classmates, some are now good friends because of simple acts of love/kindness from both parts. What would happen if we looked for opportunities to love those around us and not just the people we know?
