Why Worship Is Important to the Believer
I hope you guys are enjoying your summer! I have been having such an amazing adventure over the past week. This time has been such a blessing. I will treasure it. Here's a picture from my trip!
That said, let's dive into what's on my heart his week: What makes worship important to the believer? There are countless reasons. We see examples of worship throughout the Bible. We see it in the stories of Moses and the Isrealites. The Psalms are filled with admiration for our God. Even Mary, the mother of Jesus, praises God for what He is going to do through her in Luke 1. God deserves all the praise, glory, and honor; and we should worship Him because He died on the cross for our sins.
Worship is important to us as believers because it is a way for us to lift up our voices to Him, to pray and meditate on Him. It provides an intimate way for us to connect to God. It allows us to pour out our hearts to Him. The reason why it is so important as believers is because we should be in awe of who He is and what He has done for us. Worship is an outward expression of praise to Him in every aspect of our lives no matter what the circumstances. We do this because He wants to know the deepest parts of our hearts. We do this because He is so worthy of it.
I am going to be honest and say that I didn’t fully understand how important it was to worship Jesus in whatever way we needed until last summer in Taiwan. Almost every night, we took time as a team to worship Jesus in whatever posture that we needed, whether it was hands lifted high, head and hearts bowed, or simply being. Those nights taught me a lot about being in awe of Jesus and what He has done for me. Those moments continue to allow me to have the freedom to come before Him and lay my burdens down. I may not be the best at leaving it all at His feet, but He is there and deserves all the praise no matter what is going on around us. He can’t be praised enough for all that He has done.
